Child Information Sharing Scheme

The Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS) aims to assist professionals to better support positive child wellbeing and safety outcomes. It does this by enabling specified government agencies and service providers, known as Information Sharing Entities (ISEs), to share information about children (personal, health or sensitive information), their families or relevant third parties that will:

  • Improve early risk identification and intervention
  • Change a risk-averse culture in relation to information sharing
  • Increase collaboration and integration between child and family services
  • Support children’s participation in services.

Want to help spread the word about CISS?

We've developed a stakeholder toolkit to help organisations who provide services to educators, to share the importance of CISS.

The toolkit includes:

  • Background information to set the context and key messages you may be able to use in your communications
  • A media release that we will share with sector outlets on Wednesday 3 August that you are free to adapt and send to your own media contacts
  • Short and long form copy that might be useful in your internal and external channels, on your website, in newsletters, staff communications etc
  • Some sample media posts that you are encouraged to use or adapt
  • PowerPoint slides that you can use in meetings and presentations.

To promote awareness of the CISS, the Victorian Department of Education has commissioned Community Child Care Association (CCC) to conduct a Communication Campaign from July-November 2022.
